The City of Floresville is served by the Mayor and five Council members. The City Council formally meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month in the Council Chambers located at 1120 D Street. 7:00 pm.
Recently appointed mayor, Ms. Castillo will be actively working with council members to promote positive change for the citizens of Floresville.
Mayor Castillo has held executive positions with Frost Bank, including director of training, and interim personnel manager. After retiring from Frost Bank in 2008, Ms. Castillo returned to Floresville, where she grew up, and established residency.
Having previously served the community of Floresville as councilwoman, she continues to strive for excellence and embraces new ideas and challenges that will enhance services for the community.
Ms. Castillo earned a master of arts in secondary education from the University of the Incarnate Word and is a member of El Mesias Methodist Church, where she offers her time as stewardship chair.
Councilman Tejada, a longtime resident of Floresville, was elected to City Council in 2014. Councilman Tejada has a history of actively participating in government, community and civic organizations; is an active church member; and was formerly mayor of the City of Floresville.
Tejada has a vision for the growth of the City of Floresville and champions creation of a sustainable city. Councilman Tejada has held executive positions on the TML Board, Hispanic Municipal Officials, and served as board chairman for FELPS. Tejada is a manager with AT&T, a loving father of two adult children, a grandfather, and husband to his beautiful wife Margaret.
Councilman Ortiz was recently elected in 2014 to the City Council, but he has a history of service to the citizens of Floresville in local government. Ortiz is passionate to provide the citizens of Floresville public services and promotes safety and innovation for the community and staff. Councilman Ortiz is an experienced journeyman with Johnson Controls and is a father, grandfather, family man and loving husband to Linda.
Councilman Nieto was elected to City Council in 2009. Following a short hiatus he was re-elected in 2013. A lifelong resident of Floresville, he has served the community by volunteering his time with sports and youth organizations in various capacities. Councilman Nieto is a strong advocate of the parks and youth programs as well as the financial viability of the City. He is a professional sales manager, with Ancira Ford Dealership, a father of two children, and his greatest supporter is his wife Adrianna.
Councilman Jimenez was elected to City Council in 2016.
Councilwoman Cantu was elected to City Council in 2016.
