
Mayor Gloria Morales Cantu was elected May 4, 2024, to serve a term of two years. The mayor of Floresville provides overall leadership and direction for the city council and community, and helps guide long-term development and public policy. She presides over city council meetings and represents the city in official matters, intergovernmental relations, ceremonial functions, and community events, strengthening civic engagement and promoting Floresville’s growth and prosperity.

- A few accomplishments from time on the city council include the following: worked on the turnaround plan for the financial future of Floresville, from deficit to surplus; completion of wastewater treatment plant, preparing Floresville for 30 years of growth; supported construction of new sports complex/park, including sports fields, concession stands, restrooms, rodeo arena, and amphitheater; secured an emergency water supply; approved the Wilson Community Health Center and a new city water tower; and collaborated with the Alamo Regional Transit (ART) services to get local transportation route for citizens.
- Priorities include encouraging city growth while always being mindful of our tax rate; continuing to support the FEDC in creating new jobs and opportunities for our town; continuing to work on city street improvements and infrastructure upgrades; making sure the Floresville police station is equipped with the technology and facility necessities to serve our community; supporting equipment improvements for the children with disabilities playground; working to complete improvements on all city public parks, including River Park splash pad and swimming pool renovations, addition of exercise equipment at Pecan Park, and equipment upgrades at Lodi Park; continuing to collaborate with San Antonio Council on Alcohol & Drug Awareness (SACADA) and other local organizations; collaborating with the San Antonio Railroad Heritage Museum and Floresville Hike and Bike Trail Committee to upgrade the Floresville Historic Railroad Depot; and supporting work on sewer systems and lift stations.
- Mayor Cantu will focus on the economic development of the city, enhancing public services, and making sure Floresville remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family. Her leadership is characterized by transparency, inclusivity, and thinking ahead for our future.
